Backa Studios attended the 2026 Guldbagge Awards held at Cirkus in Stockholm. The event brings together the Swedish film industry to celebrate and highlight the year’s cinematic achievements.
The Guldbagge Awards gala was held on 19 January at Cirkus in Stockholm and was hosted by Shima Niavarani. The gala is a key meeting place for the Swedish film industry, celebrating and recognising the year’s productions.
Over the past year, the feature film May You Live, produced by Backa Studios in 2023, has continued its journey following its world premiere at Göteborg Film Festival 2025 and its Swedish theatrical release later that autumn. At the gala, lead actor Thomas Dahl attended together with members of the cast and crew. Malin Dahl and Johnny Wernersson from Backa Studios were also present, along with representatives from Batalj and Twin Pictures, to celebrate and honour the film.
The film is now preparing for international streaming distribution in over 100 countries and will be available in around twenty languages. A physical release on Blu-ray and DVD is also planned.
Through commitment, collaboration and strong regional roots, Backa Studios continues to develop and produce films outside Sweden’s main production centres. We look forward to new meetings and projects in the year ahead.
