Backa Studios returned to Göteborg Film Festival for the second consecutive year. Following the world premiere of the feature film May You Live at the festival in 2025, this year saw the screening of The Silence of Snow, which also had its world premiere in Gothenburg.
Backa Studios participated in the festival where The Silence of Snow was presented as part of the official programme. The screenings provided an opportunity to meet audiences and engage in conversations around the film’s themes and the difficult questions it explores — grief, guilt, and mental health.
The festival days also offered inspiring film experiences and valuable meetings with colleagues in the industry. We would like to extend our warm thanks to the festival for including the film in the programme, as well as to organisers and volunteers for their work behind the scenes.
The Silence of Snow, directed by Malin Dahl and produced by Johnny Wernersson, is a poetic and contemplative story about grief, trauma, and the struggle to move forward when the past refuses to let go. The film will screen in selected cinemas in Sweden while continuing its international festival journey.
This year’s festival theme was Truth, reflecting the festival’s focus on authentic and meaningful voices. Göteborg Film Festival 2026 presented strong cinema, both Swedish and international, and we look forward to the year ahead.
